Thelma Larkin Goldberg founded The Dance Inn in 1983. As Executive Director of Dance Inn Productions, she produced annual International Tap Day Festivals from 1997-2013. She writes the monthly "Tap Tips" article for Dance Studio Life Magazine and is on the faculty of the Dancelife Retreat Center and the American Tap Dance Foundation’s Tap Teacher Training Program. She received the 2015 Dr. Michael Shannon Dance Champion Award from the Boston Dance Alliance for “her sustained excellence in teaching and passionate advocacy for the art of tap dancing.” Thelma’s passion for tap education has resulted in Thelma’s Tap Notes, 8 DVDs, a Tap into History poster and a classroom kit of worksheets and rhythm cards. She continues to teach classes for all ages at her studio and she proudly mentors young dance educators. Thelma recently completed her first year of a doctoral program at Lesley University in Educational Studies with a specialization in Tap Dance Education. Through her studies she hopes to engage others in important conversations about this uniquely American art form.
