Aug 21 - Aug 22
Here is a wide sampling of the possibilities of rhythm from some of the finest beat-makers around. Choose from 18 classes, ninety minutes each, in a variety of styles and levels. The weekend classes meet only once.
Class Levels
Open to All - no tap shoes or experience necessary
Mixed - students work at their own skill level (previous tap experience necessary)
Adv. Beg./Int. - relaxed intermediate pace, nice challenge for adv. beginners
Intermediate - moderately paced adult class for students with solid tap technique and broad vocabulary
Int./Adv. - high end of intermediate level will be challenged—relaxed but relevant material for the advanced student
Advanced - adult class for experienced and professional tap dancers
Teachers - designed for teachers to keep their classes current with up to date tap technique and material
Youth I - at least three years experience, solid intermediate level, 10-14 years old
Youth II - for advanced students 13 - 18 years old (adv. adults are welcome to enter at own risk)
A note about levels:
This year we have youth classes for only intermediate and advanced level students. (The youth program will expand next year to include younger, less experienced tappers.) The ages listed are just a guideline; the experience and ability of the student is more important in considering placement.
Youth II or Advanced?
Youth II is geared to the seriously advanced teen student and often includes high speed, high energy tap with tricks (flash steps).
Advanced is aimed toward an adult understanding and appreciation of music, movement, composition, arrangement... and fewer (if any) tricks.
